About CHW Toronto
Founded in 1917, Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) Organization of Canada
is a non-political women’s volunteer organization dedicated to the support of education,
career training, healthcare, women and youth services in Israel and Canada.
CHW Toronto is a broad-based membership organization with a multi-layered structure
building from individual Chapters, to Council and City Executive Boards, and ultimately,
the National Executive Board. The membership of 10,000 women and 1,100 Male Life
Associate members is located in 30 Canadian cities and communities from coast to
coast.

Dear Friends,
As the Annual Campaign is approaching, I would like to express how important your
gift is to our projects in Israel.
Tzedakah is the Hebrew word for justice; it is one of the greatest mitzvoth a Jew
can act upon. Your support gives our children and youth in Israel an anchor in the
sometimes stormy seas of their lives. Many kids arrive in our schools as open wounds,
without self-esteem. With your donation, they realize their potential. Your tzedakah
gives them hope that they will grow and flourish and contribute to Israeli society.
Maimonides defines eight levels in giving tzedakah. Here is the highest level of
tzedakah:
"The highest form of tzedakah is to help sustain a person before he/she becomes
impoverished by offering a substantial gift in a dignified manner, or by extending
a suitable loan, or by helping them find employment or establish themselves in business
so as to make it unnecessary for them to become dependent on others".
Here you are dear friends! According to Maimonides, you perform the highest level
of charitable giving. When you make a positive difference in the lives of others,
you make a positive difference in your own life. Giving is a “win-win” proposition.
Giving enriches your life with meaning, fulfillment, and happiness.
Please, I urge you to give generously when you make your annual donation. You are
the conduit: the more you allow giving to flow through you, the more abundance flows
back into your life. The more you give, the more you receive. Giving is a beautiful
experience. I believe in it!
