For Donors, a Gift From Ottawa
Do you own appreciated securities? Did you know that as of May 2, 2006, you can
donate them to CHW and there will be no capital gains tax? Please call Laurie
in the Toronto office and she will explain the process to you. It's a win/win
situation: you make the donation, incur no capital gains tax, and our
beneficiaries, the women and children and youth at risk in Israel, receive the
critical services they need. Please donate today.
Sustainers Program
The Sustainers Pin
The Sustainers Program is an entirely new fund-raising concept for CHW which has
enormous potential. Women across the country (and some men) are showing great
faith in our organization and its work in Israel by pledging a life time gift
of $1,000 annually(payable in 10 installments annually). This donation is above
and beyond your annual personal donation. We already have enrolled members from
coast to coast and we envision the time in a few years when this will be the
biggest fund-raiser in the Organization's history.
For almost 90 years, the dedicated membership and friends of CHW have built
formidable schools, day cares and women's centres throughout Israel and have
ensured ongoing education and care for the vulnerable populations in Israel's
society. These facilities have enable many thousands of youngsters, many of
them high-risk, to thrive and succeed. Youth Villages, such as Hadassim and
schools like Nahalal provide caring, nurturing and safe environments where
young people can learn, live and grow amonst others their age. These are only
two examples from the long list of assistance that CHW provides in Israel. At
this very moment, we see the fruits of our labours of love in al all too
graphic way with over half of Israel's displaced families being housed and
cared for at CHW facilities. Years of hard use have left hteir mark on our
projects which constantly need repairs and upgrading. Knowing how necessary
these schools and youth villages are to the fabric of Israeli Society, we have
introduced The Sustainers Program whereby we will ensure the upkeep and
improvement of our treasured facilities in perpetuity.
Since its inception in 2006, more than 252 members have committed to be a
Sustainer. The Sustainers program has a goal: to attract 1,000 members
nation-wide, so that our annual WIZO commitment is ensured every year even
before we roll out our Annual Campaign. In Toronto, as of June 1, we
have 79 Sustainers, 55 of whom have signed up since the launch of our One
Campaign. Sustainers receive a lovely pin, designed in Israel, to be worn as a
pin or necklace.
Major Donors Make A Difference!
Hadassah-WIZO Canada Foundation (CHW)
Foundation Pin
Incorporated as a registered charity in 1990, the Foundation has its own Board
of Directors. The Foundation's capital endowments assure a permanent source of
funding for present and future endeavors. Members of the Foundation pledge a
minimum $5,000 gift; Founders who pledge $25,000 are named to the Founders list
and receive the Jerusalem of Gold pin. Gifts at the Founders level are payable
through installments. Only interest income is used.
CHW's Cumulative Giving Society
The Society was established to recognize lifetime cumulative donors. Their
continued financial generosity clearly speaks of their dedication to our
projects in Israel. Sustainer donors at the $50,000 level receive an original
cast gold pin. The pin is designed to add jewels as the donor increases her
gifts.
Planned Giving
Did you know that your commitment and dedication to CHW can be demonstrated
through a planned gift?
By including CHW in your will or by naming CHW as a beneficiary in a life
insurance policy, you become an inspiration and motivation to others. A promise
today creates a Jewish legacy for tomorrow. This type of commitment is an
example of your compassion and generosity.
